- Discussion questions (episode 21)
·
Identify some of the difficulties faced by Santiago Munez as he pursues his goal of playing professional
football.
·
At the centre of the film is the issue of “success”.
Consider your own thoughts about ‘success’. What do you believe constitutes
success?
·
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans
will succeed” (Proverbs 16: 3). Do you believe that this Scripture can be
applied to Santiago in the film, Goal!
The Dream Begins? Why / why not?
·
Each episode of Bugtime Adventures includes one Bible story and one ‘bug’ story that are
linked by a common theme. What do you think is the central theme in each of the
episodes in Bugtime Adventures Vol. 1?
·
Do you believe that programs like Bugtime Adventures are an effective means of
relating Bible stories and the messages they contain to children? What benefits
do you see in this form of ‘story-telling’?
·
As a result of his relationship with Pita, there is
a marked change in the hardened character of Creasy. Indeed the film, Man on Fire, reveals much about the
ability of children to awaken and rekindle the spirit. In the Bible, Jesus
urged his disciples to “become like little children” (Matthew 18: 3). What do
you think Jesus meant by this? As Christians, what childlike qualities should
we seek to develop?
·
Rod suggests that there are a number of ‘visual
connections’ between Creasy’s death scene and the
Biblical description of Christ’s journey to the Cross. Do you agree that such a
parallel exists? Why / why not?
