- Discussion questions (episode 18)
·
Rod suggests that while Wedding Crashers focuses on two men intent on scoring multiple
one-night stands, it does have a lot to say about monogamous relationships and
love between two people. Do you agree
with his assessment? Why / why not?
·
A couple’s love for each other culminates in the act
of marriage. Read Ephesians 5: 22-33. What advice does Paul give to husbands
and wives in this Scripture?
·
There are many parallels between the character
Joshua and Jesus Christ. Draw up a table (see below) noting similarities
between the two.

·
Consider the similarities above. Why do you think
the film makers chose to have Joshua’s life mirror so many aspects of the life
of Jesus Christ?
·
Joshua has been
criticised by some reviewers who have said that ‘the gospel message is
non-existent’ in the film. Do you believe that Christian films should make
explicit links to the Gospel? Are there any benefits in introducing the
Christian message in more subtle ways? Explain.
We Were Soldiers pays tribute to
the heroic soldiers of the 7th Cavalry. In particular it highlights
the sacrifices made by this group of men and the high price that they paid for
our freedom.
·
Rod states that Jesus ‘was sent on a mission not
unlike the men in We Were Soldiers’.
What was His mission? In what ways was it similar to the men in We Were Soldiers?
