In the film, Captain von Trapp refuses to
join the Nazi Party despite considerable pressure for him to accept a position
in the Third Reich’s naval forces. Moreover, he does not follow the example of
some of his fellow Austrians who betray their homeland and succumb to the Nazi
influence.

to conform to its expectations and accept things we know to be wrong. What can
